University UAS studies Polytechnics / UAS also arrange open education. You can take part in open courses regardless of your age, educational aims or previous schooling. Open polytechnic / UAS studies are mainly available for those who already live in Finland.

 Open Studies are not full-time and do not lead to a qualification – it is therefore not possible to get a long-term student residence permit based on Open Studies. Open Studies are offered in daytime, evenings, weekends and on the web at all polytechnics /UAS throughout Finland. If you decide to apply for a degree programme later,

 completed open studies can compensate parts of it. Open Studies courses are not full-time studies, therefore participating in Open Studies does not grant financial support to the student. It is up to the student to find information about possible financial aid for adult training, unemployment compensation or other financial support.

As a science, Theology explains phenomena relating to people’s religious thinking and activity as well as world-views, in particular within the sphere of Christianity. Theological research makes use of the methods of Humanities and Social Sciences. The majority of theologians work as ministers or teachers of religion. In order to work as a minister, a theologian must first be ordained. In addition to church services, ministers lead parish occasions and brainstorm various events, among other things. They are also employed in other special duties,

such as family counselling or missionary work. In addition, more and more theologians work as experts in assignments requiring knowledge of religions and cultures. Jobs are available in the media, development co-operation as well as domestic and international organisations, for example. Teachers of religion may either only teach religion or also specialise in subjects such as philosophy, history, psychology or mother tongue in addition to religion.
